Raymond Chandler

Raymond Chandler was a popular mystery and crime writer in the early part of the twentieth century.  His most famous creation was hard-boiled private eye Philip Marlowe.  PDFs of four Marlowe novels are below.

Chandler also worked on screenplays.  He wrote the original play for The Blue Dahlia and co-wrote the screen adaptation for James M. Cain’s Double Indemnity.  He helped adapt Patricia Highsmith’s Strangers on a Train but wasn’t happy with the way the project turned out.  Movie trailers behind the posters.
